Davis Acquires Advanced Research & Development Complex from Jamestown in Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta, GA, October 25, 2024 – The Davis Companies (Davis) today announced that it has purchased a portfolio of three advanced research and development buildings in Atlanta, Georgia from Jamestown (Jamestown). The portfolio, consisting of 1401 & 1435 Hills Place NW and 1357 Collier Road NW, totals 235,108 RSF. The majority of the portfolio is occupied by Anduril Industries, an American defense technology company specializing in advanced autonomous systems. The newly redeveloped buildings feature 21’ clear heights, ample natural light via floor-to-ceiling windows and ample power loads sufficient to support a wide range of advanced research and development uses.
Situated one mile from I-75 and a quarter mile from Marietta Boulevard/Atlanta highway, the advanced research and development complex offers seamless access to a skilled, local talent pool, including the Georgia Institute of Technology, one of the nation’s top engineering schools. Atlanta’s energetic Upper Westside submarket, in which the complex is located, is home to numerous dining options, shopping, entertainment venues and an array of successful commercial and retail projects.
“Acquiring this state-of-the-art facility, in this dynamic Atlanta submarket, underscores our commitment to building an institutional quality high-tech research and development portfolio,” said Brendan Richards, Vice President of Investments at Davis. “The strategic location, coupled with a thriving talent pool from surrounding institutions and universities, ensures this campus will continue to support innovation and growth of advanced R&D and manufacturing efforts in the region. This acquisition is the latest milestone in Davis’ track record of well-positioned investments that offer premier tenant experiences in a market seeing growing demand.”
Jamestown previously acquired the portfolio as a mixed-use creative office and retail development before ultimately redeveloping the property to accommodate the current tenant’s specifications for R&D, manufacturing, and office.
“Our vision was to reposition these former industrial buildings for today’s innovation economy,” said Matt Bronfman, CEO of Jamestown. “Having completed extensive infrastructure and utility upgrades to the buildings and fully leased the space, we saw an opportunity to leverage that status in the market. We’re proud to have secured Anduril’s Atlanta expansion and believe they will be a great contributor to the regional economy for many years to come.”
1401 & 1435 Hills Place NW and 1357 Collier Road NW are the most recent acquisitions in Davis’ growing portfolio of mission critical research and development facilities. The portfolio continues to expand across the country and includes existing investments in Greater Boston.
